Dead Man Switch

Pretty sure you can roll this digital survival kit using other means or platforms, but this week I found a neat one for anyone with Bitwarden  https://github.com/djasonpenney/bitwarden_reddit/blob/main/emergency_kit.md  . It describes how to set up and use a dead man switch which is what happens when you have a memory lapse or even better (or worse) , that you terminate. Then at least your family will be able to access not just your finances and accounts, but also any digital assets.

The Great ADHD Myth?

Image
As broadcast on Channel 4 on Tuesday 18 August. Is a "mocumentary".  This is my appeal to offcom. With keen interest I watched this informative program run with "documentary" status attached to it only to find that it was completely unscientific. I want to ensure Channel4 cannot in future class programs as documentary when they substantially lack scientific evidence or process. We run the risk of watering down all science when we let programs be classified in this way. To go further, the programme pushes 2 conspiracy theories instead. The first that "big pharma" are making money from over diagnosing ADHD and in fact ANY and ALL mental illnesses.  The second conspiracy theory it pushes is around the need to overhaul our schools. The title of the programme as material is only lightly covered, and includes almost no facts about what ADHD is. For science, it substituted a cruel Hawthrone-effect biased experiment on a young boy and his brother as a single evid...

more clips

Image
Today's post is about the recent solar eclipse, but every time I hear that word. We all know, that ADHD thing where you're suddenly randomly in the middle of every thing you do, reminded of something somebody said back in 1990. Well, the word eclipse triggers a memory for me of a movie called the A team, BA barackas, AKA mister T. The gentle giant had to be hypnotised In order to get him onto any aircraft and so Faceman, (the con man played by Dirk Benedict) would hypnotise him and the word used to get him out of the hypnosis was eclipse. One day while in the helicopter, they got involved in a brief firefight and Faceman called foe more ammo. He shoute "more clips", which sounds exactly like "mor-eclipse". At least eclipses are rare. Anyway, this is the constantly interrupted ADHD world I live in, so today I'm celebrating with a little picture. Which, I took during last night's eclipse.  So this doesn't happen because I'm interest...

encourage always

Image
Ropes, cannot build or hold anything at all up on their own When it comes to mental health, you need encouragement, something that helps us keep balance between the things that are dragging us down. We need things that lift us up to balance those out. Encouragement will most often come from friends, as it turns out. But if you have mental health issues, you tend to have very few friends anyway. The neuro-divergent have unlucky habits of destroying friendships just through our seemingly uncaring ways that our brains operate as they hop about. That's overload, just unable to even look after the brain's own owner even.  Quite often, if you're married, like, I am, so I'm lucky enough to have somebody who does support me, and everyone needs an encourager. Some time ago I had somebody thank me. Give me a one of those really good "Thank yous" for encouraging them. And I'm like, oh yeah, and it really made me feel good, and I understood then because I hadn't a...

medication

Image
I'm going to do what online recipes do, I promise just this once. I want to talk about why I stopped medication, but first I have to complete my Epilogue travel anxiety post. This is the puzzle that started the blog If you click back now, you can see my own photo while standing in the same spot. I guess, this jigsaw puzzle and my interest in puzzles has been a thing that made me think, that I cannot possibly have ADHD. I probably only do a jigsaw every 3 years, but I hyper focus on and push through. Almost like a compensation mechanism I guess. I have a question. What is your compensation mechanism for maintaining your own self worth amid the malaise of ADHD doubts? Meds I am drug averse. I avoid, it's just I do not like the idea that chemicals can change me. My Aunt took an OD, when I was around 10, so that perhaps also informs my view. I rarely use paracetamol for example, although I often do have headaches. I once went through a phase where I polished off a bottl...

where to start

Image
(Stantead feeling nervous) The altitude is roughly 37,200 feet, and the engines have lowered their pitch now. It's ages since I felt that immense power of take off, that deep throat roar. Jet engines are marvelous. (I got to start one once). I just don't travel nor fly much lately, I'm quite low carbon. So now that we are almost half-way to a long weekend in Prague, I am starting to relax a bit. I have always hated border controls and flying. Although if I think for a minute, flying I love, but airport security I hate. And yes, being bored on a plane is exactly the right time to start yet another blog. I really hope I can keep this one going. (Enough time to imagine the worst) When your brain always thinks the worst, your life sux for any kind of travel. I got stopped by security again this time, this seems to happen almost half of the plane journeys I take. Finally worked out why I get singled out, border controls make me nervous, which makes you st...
